The map defaults to the latest completed UTC day. Satellite detections can lag observations and may miss fires. An empty map is not an all-clear. Open NASA FIRMS · Open AFIS

Read Risk Insights →The weather panel uses MET Norway’s location forecast. Displayed times are local to your device; satellite layer dates use UTC. Forecasts are not rain measurements or SAWS warnings. The NASA GIBS overlay shows NOAA-21 VIIRS thermal anomalies and fires for the selected day; coverage can be incomplete and delayed, and some heat detections have non-wildfire causes. Use NASA FIRMS or AFIS for more detail.
Place searches are sent to Photon, using OpenStreetMap data, only when you submit a search. Matching locations depend on the source data; if a place is missing, use the map or device location. Rounded coordinates are sent to MET Norway when loading a forecast. OpenStreetMap and NASA receive requests for the area you view on the map. Forecasts are cached in this browser session to reduce repeat requests. Location is not added to a Black Sable™ client record. Providers’ privacy terms apply to their services.
This page supports awareness; it is not an emergency alert service. If there is immediate danger, follow official instructions and contact local emergency services. If a source fails, its data is shown as unavailable rather than interpreted as safe.
