TRAC confirmed the incident and motorists were advised at the time to use Schoemanskloof while recovery operations continued. The N4 remained open but was subject to possible interruption during recovery. The incident is no longer being treated as a current road closure, but it illustrates the disruption and environmental consequences that can follow hazardous-goods incidents on one of the Lowveld’s principal transport corridors.
