The affected treatment plant remains closed while cleaning, disinfection and rehabilitation work continues, and municipal tankers are supplying drinking water. Earlier testing found high levels of E. coli after the plant operated without adequate chlorination. The original Tshwane advisory also referenced cross-border supply into parts of Thembisile Hani Local Municipality in Mpumalanga, although the municipality later disputed its exposure to the contaminated system. That Mpumalanga connection should therefore be treated as unresolved rather than confirmed.
